John Mould’s Paradise Collection 2008

John Mould invited the Early Ford V8 Club and the Model `A` Ford club along for the day  so we could all have a sociable day looking at other members cars and viewing the Paradise Collection. I was unable to get an eligible car along this year due to domestic commitments but was able to get to the meet for a few hours. I have typed a list of members attending and cars attending above but there were loads of people walking around. If your name does not appear in the above list it will be that I did not actually speak to you. Apologies for those I missed. The Paradise collection must be the largest collection of Fords and Bedfords in the country. John Mould has certainly got together a wide ranging collection of vehicles both car and commercial. I am sure there was something to view for every type of enthusiast. I had previously sent out a flyer to remind people about the event and I got several phone calls as a result, including John Jilbert who travelled up from Cornwall especially to be at the meet. I assume he must have been the club member who travelled the furthest distance? Fortunately the weather was excellent and a good day was had by all. Several `new` cars at the meet including the V8 Pilot Hearse just completed by Ginger and Marilyn Dann. Now in the Midlands Ginger and Marilyn had to travel a good way to attend the meet. Another `new` car was the 1946 Lincoln Continental owned by Guy Maylam purchased by Guy earlier this year. Edwin Phelps arrived in his `new` 1932 Ford Model 18 Cabriolet. Edwin drove his car all the way from Somerset. Mark Farmer arrived in his `new`1937 Ford V8 Pickup with special Anthony pickup bed. This was even inscribed in the tailgate. Chairman Mark reported a good run up from Kent some 100 plus miles. Robert Davey joined our club on the day in his 1944 WOA 1 Utility vehicle. Good to see this very rare military Ford in excellent running condition.

A good day out that`s for sure. Many thanks to John Mould on behalf of the club committee for holding this event.
